Ukraine

My country is Ukraine. It is the largest country in Europe. Ukraine is an independent country. Our flag is yellow and blue. Kyiv is the capital if Ukraine. The Dnipro is the longest river. mount Hoverla in the Carpathians is the highest peak. There are a lot of forests and lakes in Ukraine.

 

 TERNOPIL

Ternopil is my native city. It's a beautiful city on the banks of the river Seret. Ternopil was founded in 1540. The main street is Ruska Streeet. There are lots of churches, theatres, cinemas and museums in Ternopil. There are four parks and a beautiful lake in our city. You can go to cafes and restaurants. We have 30 schools in Ternopil. My school is number 11. You can see a lot of cars, buses, trolley-buses in the streets. I think Ternopil is the best place to live.

It consists of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The capital of England is London. The symbol of England is a red rose. Queen Elizabeth II lives in Buckingham Palace in London. The capital of Scotland is Edinburgh. The thistle is the symbol of Scotland. Scotland is famous for its mountains and lakes. The capital of Wales is Cardiff. A red dragon is the oldest symbol of Wales. People love Welsh beaches and castles. The capital of Northern Ireland is Belfast. Green is one of the symbols of Ireland. The Irish are famous for their dances.

Easter in Ukraine

 

Easter is an important holiday in Ukraine. Preparations start in Lent. During this time people fast, so they can't eat rich or sweet food. 

The week before Easter, Holy Week, is busy. On Maundy Thursday people clean their homes. On Good Friday they make Easter bread and decorate eggs.

On Easter day people take food, such as paska, pysanky, sausage, ham, cheese and butter, to church for the priest to bless in service. Then they go home and have a meal. When they meet others they say, 'Christ is risen!'
